Congratulations to Madeline...

... for making Principal's List for 1st semester!  Requiring a 4.0 GPA for the semester!
Great job, Madeline!  We are very proud of you.
Keep up the good work!

Epiphany party!

Thanks to all who attended our 7th annual Epiphany party!  I will not give you the complete play-by-play of the whole evening because my dear friend, Jenny, has done such a delightful job on her blog!

But here is a peek and a few highlights from this year's bash:

Well, of course there must be food!  There were many returning favorites and of course a few new recipes... Probably the most popular new recipe was the "Chorizo Goat Cheese Half Moons"!
And, of course drinks!  Moving the bar to the living room this year made it much easier to serve everyone while still allowing the bartender to be part of the party!  It also gave me a lot more elbow room in the kitchen.   Much thanks to Dave for once again being the Bartender's very able assistant!

Too bad the unseasonably warm weather we have been having hadn't yet arrived... but Wall-E (our heater) provided some warmth for those who got some fresh air on the patio!

The gift exchange was a blast and we were all happy to see "Dolly"  make a return appearance!

Jon ended up with the World's Largest Universal remote (minus the instructions, hmmm)!  Our kids happen to think it is really cool!  And, we did manage to program it sans instructions to operate both TV and DVD player!  ~insert applause here~

Emily received an actual white elephant at the "White Elephant" gift exchange!  Very cool!

And, of course a great big THANK YOU to my kitchen-helper/photographer and great friend, Jenny!
Until next year...

Ringing in the New Year!

After a quiet New Year's Eve at home, we enjoyed an equally relaxing New Year's morning at La Jolla Cove.  For the 3rd year in a row, the weather has been stunning and perfect for a walk along the beach and even a little exploring in the tide pools.

After our walk, we all enjoyed a little refreshment at Haagen-Daz  and some fun in the park!
